چکیده

Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a typical and serious mental disorder such that lifetime prevalence reaches up to 16%, and 12-months prevalence is about 6.6%, and present various symptoms, including behavioral, cognitive, and emotional manifestations (1-3). Regional gray matter changes in major depressive disorder: an optimized voxel-based morphometry study

Introduction Voxel based morphometry (VBM) is a neuroimaging analysis technique that allows investigation of focal differences in brain anatomy, using the statistical approach of so-called statistical parametric mapping [1,2]. Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a common and serious psychiatric illness. In past study, the authors have done many researches to reveal the change in grey matter [3-7...

P 24: Evaluation of the Voxel Based Morphometry in Quantitative Analysis of Brain MRI Images

Introduction: Voxel based morphometry is a type of statistical parametric mapping that can be used to investigate the effect of diseases such as epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease or other agent such as skills on brain structure (white matter, gray matter and cerebrospinal fluid). The aim of this study is evaluate the effectiveness of this method in detection of differen...

Depressive symptoms and neuroanatomical structures in community-dwelling women: A combined voxel-based morphometry and diffusion tensor imaging study with tract-based spatial statistics

Depressive symptoms, even at a subclinical level, have been associated with structural brain abnormalities. However, previous studies have used regions of interest or small sample sizes, limiting the ability to generalize the results. In this study, we examined neuroanatomical structures of both gray matter and white matter associated with depressive symptoms across the whole brain in a large s...

Insular and Hippocampal Gray Matter Volume Reductions in Patients with Major Depressive Disorder

BACKGROUND Major depressive disorder is a serious psychiatric illness with a highly variable and heterogeneous clinical course. Due to the lack of consistent data from previous studies, the study of morphometric changes in major depressive disorder is still a major point of research requiring additional studies. The aim of the study presented here was to characterize and quantify regional gray ...

Decreased hippocampal volume in healthy girls at risk of depression.

CONTEXT Researchers have documented that the hippocampus is smaller in individuals with depression than in those without. The temporal or causal association of this reduction in hippocampal volume in depression, however, is not known. OBJECTIVE To test the hypothesis that reduced hippocampal volume precedes and therefore may be implicated in the onset of depression. DESIGN We used magnetic ...
